Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about WhatsMyContract.
What types of contracts can I analyze?
Any text-based legal document: employment agreements, NDAs, MSAs, SOWs, freelance contracts, vendor agreements, SaaS terms, lease agreements, offer letters, separation agreements, and partnership agreements. Paste the full text or the sections most relevant to your review.
Is this actual legal advice?
No. WhatsMyContract is an AI-powered educational tool. The analysis we provide helps you understand what a contract says in plain language — it does not constitute legal advice and does not create an attorney-client relationship. For significant contracts, consult a licensed attorney in your jurisdiction.
How accurate is the analysis?
Our analysis is highly reliable for standard commercial and employment contract language. It may be less precise for highly specialized contracts (complex M&A agreements, multi-jurisdiction international contracts, regulated industry-specific instruments). We recommend treating the output as a thorough first read, not a final legal determination.
Is my contract text stored or shared?
No. Contract text you submit is processed in real time and is not permanently stored on our servers or shared with any third party. We strongly recommend not submitting documents containing sensitive personal identification data that isn't necessary for the legal analysis.
What's the best way to use the tool?
Paste the full document if possible — more context produces better analysis. If the document is very long, paste the sections you're most concerned about first (indemnification, IP assignment, termination, non-compete). Run the analysis, review the flagged clauses, and use the plain-language summaries to prepare specific questions for your attorney.
Can I use it to analyze enterprise or multi-party contracts?
Yes. The engine handles complex multi-party structures, though very long documents (100+ pages) may need to be submitted in sections for best results. The Pro plan supports longer document submissions with priority processing.
What exactly does 'indemnification trap' mean?
An indemnification clause requires one party to compensate the other for specific losses or damages. A 'trap' occurs when the scope of indemnification is far broader than the party signing realizes — for example, agreeing to indemnify a company for the actions of its other vendors, or for third-party IP claims unrelated to your work. These are common in MSAs and can expose you to enormous liability if you don't spot them.
Does it handle non-English contracts?
Currently, WhatsMyContract is optimized for English-language contracts governed by U.S. or UK common law. Analysis of contracts in other languages or civil law jurisdictions may be less precise.
How many analyses can I run for free?
Free users get 3 analyses per day. Pro users get unlimited analyses. No account is required for the free tier.
